Ali Arminio is a narrative-focused cinematographer based in Los Angeles. Her work centers around intimate explorations of personal identity, loss and longing, and womanhood.
Recent short films have shown at festivals across the US and internationally including Seattle International Film Festival, Raindance, Aspen ShortsFest, and Nantucket Film Festival. Her latest documentary work premiered at the LACMA Art+Film Gala and resides publicly in the LA Times short docs section. Notable credits include camera operating on Mekki Leeper's independent pilot Fintech, as well shooting Russell Goldman’s thriller short Burn Out (produced by Jamie Lee Curtis) and Hannah Levin's dark comedy Golden Child (featured on Short of the Week starring Levin, Seth Morris, and Gillian Vigman).
Ali holds a degree in Film Studies and English from Wesleyan University. She grew up between suburban New York and the Jersey Shore, which informs her love for stories about the ocean and the question of where one calls home. She is currently in prep for her first feature film, the psychological horror Sweetwater, set to shoot in March 2025.
